The firm of Mossop & Bowser was founded in 1826 by
Robert Mossop. The original office was Long Sutton Office and branches were
then opened at Holbeach in 1872, at Wisbech in 1950 and at Boston in 1985.
Robert Mossop was joined in partnership by two of his sons, R P Mossop and S S
Mossop Senior. Their nephew S S Mossop Junior was next taken into partnership.
In 1916 Mr C M Bowser became a partner and the Firm became Mossop and Bowser. S
S Mossop Junior's son J C Mossop came into partnership in 1936 shortly after
his father's death. Then came J Bowser and R Bowser. The Mossop line ended when
P J Mossop (son of J C Mossop) retired in 1990. In December 1993 Holbeach
Office moved into Abbots Manor. The firm now operates from its main office at
Holbeach, and a smaller office in Long Sutton.
